Anoka Dance Team Tryouts
What happens at the tryouts? At the tryouts on Monday & Tuesday dancers will learn all material required for the formal tryout. Those trying out will learn both a short Jazz and a short High Kick combination as well as skills combinations that they will perform during their final tryout on Tuesday. Formal/final tryout will be done in groups of 4-8 in front of a panel of judges. How many people will make it? This varies from year to year! We have had anywhere from a total of 45-75 dancers on our team. Most years, however, our roster has been around 50-60 dancers. At tryouts in the spring, dancers are simply selected for the team as a whole. Placement on Varsity, JV, and B-Squad are done at the beginning of the competitive season in October - but our October tryouts are also open to brand new members as well! We have a wide range of skill levels on our team from very experienced dancers to those more new to dance - we have various levels & would love for you to be a part of our dance family! What is the time commitment to be on the competitive dance team? The competitive season runs from the end of October to mid February and practices most days after school. We also compete 1-2 times a week in the months of November, December & January. The competitive team also practices in the summer during June & July. Calendars for the entire season will be available at the Parent Meeting upon making the team.
